Agent of Socialization

People or Group that greatly influence us and our self-concept, attitude, emotions are called Agents of Socialization. Our Family, School, Peer Groups and the Mass media are the Agents. The foundation of who we are and does the greatest impact on us is our Family. They teach us the values in life and a happy family produce a happy child. The school is where we met and learn how to socialize to other people with very different backgrounds. It is where we learn things and feed our hunger in knowledge. Our peer groups is the very circle of our closest friends who had influences us in many things. They can be the reason of why we have some bad habits, vices if our peer group is on the negative side. Our peer groups can also be a great influence to us; with them we discuss or problems whom to our family or parents cannot understand. The last agent is the mass media. It is powerful because it can affect our attitude, the way we think and can hypnotized us in other means.
